Autumn and Winter is here, it's time to snuggle up and keep warm with the latest hot trends!
The silhouette of the 1950’s and 1960’s make a strong return. This season is all about retro dressing, nipped in waist, full skirts and full bosoms. In real terms a celebration of womanliness – all curves and gorgeous glamour!
Daytime is all about the high waisted, wide leg trousers, soft blouses and 70’s accessories. By night time, all that shimmers is gold, the Midas touch. Floaty draping dresses in high-shine fabrics or metallic hues which are all perfect for an evening out. Mix it up a metallic top and a pair of jeans for drinks with friends or go for the all out glam for a night on the town.
Prom style dresses and nipped in waist and high necklines or the amble bust in balconette corsets, lady like accessories – Kelly bags, up to the elbow gloves all complete the look
COLOUR TRENDS: This season it is the return of muted tones with grey, chocolates, charcoals and olives evident but with the odd splash of vibrancy coming from deeps reds, oranges, yellows, purple, pink, blue. A particular dominant trend seen on catwalks was camel from camel coats to camel trousers – creamy caramels, tans to taupe reflected in many autumn winter collections. This shade is going to be one of THE hot colour trends for Autumn/ Winter 2010 collections so get ready to incorporate this must have winter colour trend into your Autumn/Winter fashion buys.
THE TRENDS
New wave Military: The military jacket makes a return – you may even say it never left us. It’s the trend that never goes away. Taking cues from the 20th century military uniforms, from green to shearling lined boots, khaki parkas, double breasted with details fo gold buttons featured on the front line. When it comes to styles, this jacket is quiet versatile.
Tights (hosiery): Wait for it, white tights made an appearance on the catwalk and soon the shops will be brimming with them. They may not be your taste and even remind you of surgical stockings but it is a trend! Lace tights make a return, if you like me they never went out of fashion. BUT I have been duly informed that white lace tights are making a return. The only lace tights that look good on a woman leg are the black or the dark-blue ones
Velvet: A return of a classic luxurious fabric. Glamorous for the evening in a dress but for daytime wear it with a hint of layering for a modern take – a flirty short velvet skirt with lace tights . Colours are deep blood red and can be worn from everything from trousers to dress, handbags to gloves.
Leopard Print:
Does this trend every go away?? The answer is no. On the catwalks the print was seen on everything from coats to dress, tops, bags and even boots making the possibilities (and outfits) endless. Designers mixed it up with Military skirts, polka dots, velvet and flirty colours for a playful sexy effect. For an evening out, a leopard print dress cinched in at the waist with a belt worn with killer heels – screams sexy.
Coats: Camel is the colour of the season. Invest in classic styles in good quality fabrics for a good investment. At the end of the season have it cleaned by a good dry cleaner and it will last for ever. Camel is a colour that can be worn with almost everything and looks gorgeous with black, navy, grey and chocolate brown.
Shearling fabrics: A Shearling jacket is one of the key mu
st have’s seen on the catwalks this season. There are different types for various purses. A real Shearling jacket is an investment piece. Confession time, I have a shearing jacket and a Toscana knee length coat. This season they will be cropped, with oversize collars, biker jackets got an update as they morphed into aviator styles. Designers such as Pringle of Scotland, DKNY, and Burberry Prorsum sent their hot styles down the catwalk. Wear yours with feminine fabrics or with the new trouser silhouettes but the choice is all yours.
Capes: It’s the return of the cape. They are practical, easy, cosy and comfy to wear. Capes envelope, comfort and cut an impressive silhouette. They are the ultimate throw-on-and-go must have for this season.
New Minimalism: Elegance, simplicity and luxury all combined to make a pared down chic statement. Clothes are not attention grabbing but with the correct styles and simple accessories will say that you are a style icon and not a fashion victim. Stick to a palette of black, navy, camel, grey and white.
Wide Leg Trousers: Time to hang up the Hareem pants and bring out the new shape for the season. High waited wide leg trousers make their return and created a buzz on the catwalks. These trousers glide over the thighs and butt and never cling. For me, these form a staple part of my wardrobe.

Leather: Leather makes another appearance this season. Leather shorts, leather dresses, leather leggings... and more. This season saw the designers such as Emporio Armani, Balmain sending their collections down the runway
FOOTWEAR TRENDS:
The re-emergence of the equestrian style flat knee high boot that dominated last season and this year is no difference. Over knee high boots are tipped to be one of the key season footwear trends – with both flat and high heel styles included. UGG® style is bound to remain in high demand reflecting the sheepskin and faux fur trend. Genuine UGG® style have launched Women's Sheepskin Cuff Boot is one the biggest fashion statements this season, the women's Sheepskin Cuff Boot is sure to make you stand out. The length and curliness of the Mongolian sheep on the cuff varies from pair to pair.Expect to see the must have shade of camel and look out for round toe court shoes and lace up pumps to add to your footwear collection for autumn winter
Thigh high boots:
Over-the-knee boots are the must-have footwear for Autumn Winter 2010. The boots over the knee are very sexy and are very in trend. The best color choice is black, grey or brown. They should be worn with short skirts and dresses or skinny jeans.
Kitten Heels
Yep there back, they are like the ugly step-sister of the heel family; they don't lengthen the legs and define the calf, or generally make you feel like a million dollar sex-bomb BUT they are comfortable. Kitten heels can work particularly well when dainty, pointed, and either retro-inspired or minimalist. Their return is spurned on by this seasons 50’s and 60’s trend.
- Look for shoes that are dainty, yet sophisticated. That means kitten heels with pointed toes are preferable.
- Feminine details like bows can add to the effect but keep it relatively simple and don't overdo the girlyness.
- Try leather pairs in neutral tones, earthy tones or shades like grey or black.
